Q: How do I open a brokerage account?
A: To trade online you will need to open an Online Brokerage account. You can apply for your Online Brokerage account through Online Banking.


 
Q: Do I need to be signed up to Online Banking before I can set up my Online Brokerage account?
A: Yes. You must first sign up to Online Banking and then follow the instructions to open your Online Brokerage account.
 
Q: I've signed up for Online Brokerage. What happens next?
A: We will send you an email acknowledging receipt of your Online application. You will be notified via your email within 3 working days on Online Banking to go to your NBK branch to sign your application, and the agreements. Once you have done this, we will send you an email on Online Banking notifying you of your password and User ID and brokerage account number.
 
Q: Do I have the option to down load any documents?
A: Yes, you can down load the required documents from a PDF file at home or from work and sign them at your convenience. You are requested to submit these forms to your branch before we can create your password and User ID. You also have the option to sign the required documentation at your domicile branch.
 
Q: Do I need to change my password?
A: Yes. Once you receive your password, you will be prompted to change it. This is for your protection and it will ensure that no one but you knows the password.
 
Q: What happens if I forget my password?
A: You can either call 803 111 or send us an email us at brokerage@nbk.com to request a new password. You will be notified of your default password originally given to you when you first signed up on your Online Banking email. Once you receive your default password, you will be prompted to change it.
 
Q: Do I need to set up or open a special or new account at NBK for Online Brokerage?
A: You will be required to designate one account as your trading account. You have the option to open a new account in KD or US Dollars or select one of your existing accounts.
 
Q: What is the best way to check the status of my brokerage account?
A: You can check the status of your account by going to and then clicking on Online Brokerage. You must then enter your user ID and password and click on "Portfolio".
 
Q: What is the minimum amount required for opening an account ?
A: You can open your Online Brokerage account with US $1,000.
 
Q: Do I have to maintain a balance in my account at all times ?
A: You must maintain an average balance of US $ 1,000 to earn interest.
 
Q: Can I have a KD brokerage account?
A: No, as all securities trades are in US dollars only.
 
Q: How do I transfer funds between NBK deposit accounts and my Online Brokerage account?
A: Simply click on "Transfer Funds" or " Brokerage Transfer" in Online Brokerage and fill in your transfer details and submit .
 
Q: Can I transfer from any NBK deposit account?
A: You will have one linked deposit account that you select on your Online Brokerage opening form. (However, you can easily transfer funds to & from that deposit account to other Online Brokerage accounts and other WOL accounts).
 
Q: How do I check the status of an order?
A: Simply select "Portfolio" and "order status".
 
Q: How do I know if my trade has been executed?
A: Simply select "Portfolio" & " Order status".
 
Q: What if I need to cancel an order?
A: Select "Portfolio" and " Order status". However, during market hours, if the order is prior to execution, or has been executed, you cannot cancel your order.
 
Q: Are any monthly fees or handling charges added to my account?
A: There is an annual fee on your account, which can be found in the customer service section of the brokerage website. You are also charged trade commisions for the trades you perform. For more information, please click on customer service to get the fee schedule.
 
Q: How do I check my current portfolio balance?
A: Simply select " Portfolio " &" Balances".
 
Q: How do I place a trade?
A: Simply go to "Trading" and enter trade details, such as stock symbol, price, quantity and whether it is a market or limit order. After reviewing it, click "Send Order".
 
Q: How do I find ticker symbols?
A: Select "Quotes and News" and enter symbol then click on "Display".
 
Q: What types of quotes can I access?
A: Real-time quotes are available for listed and Over the Counter ( OTC ) stocks on most major exchanges. When you enter the ticker symbol, you receive the most recent price, change in price from the previous day, the bid/ask and the trading volume. Each new customer receives 100 real-time quotes and 100 additional quotes for each trade placed. Delayed quotes are available in an unlimited amount and free of charge. However, if you use up your free real-time quotes, there will be a 5 cent per real-time quote charge.
 
Q: What type of research can I access?
A: Quotes & news, charts, industry news, Dow Jones Business News Business News, Zacks Investment Reasearch, S&P News & Research and Standard & Poors Snapshot Reports.
 
Q: What if I have questions or service requests?
A: Your first stop is to call 803 111 and your call will be handled by our Online Brokerage customer service representatives. You can also email us at brokerage@nbk.com.
 
Q: How safe is my account information?
A: Using secured browsers and the latest encryption technology, we have built our system using the best available internal and external security to protect your account information.
 
Q: How fast is my money transferred?
A: If sent during US market hours your money will be credited to your brokerage account within 3 hours. Sending money back to your NBK account will take the usual time of telex transfer procedures.
